From the Archive: Marcky the Fighter on NBC Connecticut

The segment, "Glastonbury boy with rare form of cancer is true fighter", aired on August 4, 2025. At the time, Marcky Foster was 4 years old and living in Glastonbury.

Marcky had been diagnosed with Embryonal Tumor with Multilayered Rosettes, or ETMR. It is a rare and aggressive brain tumor that mostly affects very young children, according to Nationwide Children's Hospital.

In the segment, his parents described facing the diagnosis together as a family, led by the little boy they called "Marcky the Fighter."

Remembering Marcky

Watching this segment now, we see exactly who he was: brave, strong, and leading the way for everyone around him. He gave his family and this community a reason to come together, and that is what Marcky's Fighters continues to do in his memory.

Carrying His Fight Forward

ETMR is rare, and rare childhood cancers often get less attention and research funding. By sharing Marcky's story, we hope more people learn about pediatric brain cancer and the families facing it.

Thank you for remembering Marcky with us.
